Hello everybody,

I hope you have had a great summer. We have here in The Garden. We had lots of visitors from the human world and enjoyed some sunbathing and dust baths.

Here are this weeks headlines:
  • It's no yoke  (joke) for Cornflake
  • Feet operation a resounding success
  • A clucking dice with death.
Some of you may have seen there has been a small out break of what the humans are calling Bumble Foot and the human with big hair has been running some foot clinics. Well I am very pleased to report everything has gone well and Brave has her bandages off and a fine pair of feet. She has been showing them off to everyone and can run and walk much better now.  She was even talking about opening a nail parlour to go with the beauty salon Cornflake, Frostie, Snowy and Albino are running. I am not sure if she will have any success but will keep you posted. Us chickens have very long nails for scratching about in the dirt, she will have to have a good nail file!!

Poor old Cornflake was minding her chicken business the other day and the small human was pottering about in The Garden, collecting our eggs. I am not sure what happened but I suddenly saw Cornflake sprinting - yes sprinting - across The Garden in a right state, she had a yellow liquid running down her back. Suddenly she was surrounded by some of the other girls who started pecking at the liquid on her back, she was so distressed running round. Thankfully the  Julia Roberts look a like human ( I shall call her JR from now on), came in, picked her up and her and the small human washed the yellow liquid off her. I heard the small human say she had accidently dropped an egg onto cornflakes back. It was no yolk I can tell you for poor Cornflake.

Finally we had a major incident in The Garden. We were all going through our daily routine and were gathered underneath our favourite bush having afternoon tea and a gossip, when there was an almighty crashing sound and a very large branch came tumbling down off the old oak tree. We all managed to escape and our clucking brought out the humans. The branch was lodged over the fence and so the human with the big hair disappeared and came back with the chain saw. She was busy for a while cutting the branch away from the fence when BOOM, disaster. The branch fell from it's position onto the humans foot. She opened her mouth several times but no words came out and then she was whiter than Albino. Small human and JR came dashing in and led her away. We didn't see them for the rest of the day or all night. The next day the human with the big hair had a big boot thing on her foot. Brave said she would be happy to have her in her foot parlour to give it the once over, but having seen Brave's new nail varnish the human might be sfaer without her help.

Well that's all for this week, hope you have a clucking good week,

Val.
